Cinnamon Maple Pecan Buns, made with bread maker sweet dough, are sweet and delicious drizzled with pure maple syrup and sprinkled with coarse maple sugar.

Easy to make bread maker sweet dough is filled with a cinnamon, brown sugar and pecan filling and baked until golden brown. Warm from the oven, drizzled with pure maple syrup and sprinkled with coarse maple sugar they make a delectable breakfast treat or snack.

Cinnamon Maple Pecans Buns Recipe

Yield: 24 servings

Equipment:

  • bread maker
  • 2 8x10 inch baking pans

Sweet Dough

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup milk, warmed to 80-90° F (27° - 32° C)
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 6 tbsp (90 ml) unsalted butter at room temperature
  • ½ (125 ml) cup sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 4 cups (1 L) unbleached all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) cinnamon
  • 2 ¼ tsp (11 ml) active dry or bread machine yeast

Cinnamon Pecan Filling:

Ingredients:

  • ½ (125 ml) cup brown sugar
  • ½ (125ml) cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) cinnamon
  • 1 cup (250 ml) chopped pecans
  • ¼ unsalted butter, melted

Combine and mix the first four ingredients in a small bowl.

Topping:

  • 1 cup (250 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup (250 ml) coarse maple sugar

How to make the Sweet Dough in the Bread Maker

Preheat oven to 350 F

  1. Spray the two baking pans with non-stick spray.
  2. Place the ingredients in the bread maker bread pan fitted with the kneading paddle or as per the bread maker instruction manual: milk, eggs, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla, flour and yeast in the bread pan of the bread maker fitted with the kneading paddle.
  3. Place the bread pan in the bread maker and select the 'Dough' option.
  4. Press Start to mix, knead and rise.
  5. When the cycle is completed, (completion time may vary with different bread makers) leave the dough in the bread pan, turn off the machine and let rise another ½ hour.
  6. Remove dough and punch to deflate.
  7. Divide dough in half and let dough rest for 15 minutes.
  8. On a lightly floured surface roll dough into 12 inches wide and ½ inch wide.
  9. Brush each rectangle with melted butter.
  10. Sprinkle with the Cinnamon Pecan Filling.
  11. Roll each rectangle as for a jelly roll and pinch along sides to seal.
  12. Cut each rectangle in 12 equal portions using a serrated knife.
  13. Arrange the portions in the prepared pans. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise 40 to 50 minutes.
  14. Remove plastic from pans and sprinkle each pan and drizzle ½ cup of maple syrup over Cinnamon Maple Pecan Buns in both pans. Sprinkle each pan with ½ cup of the maple coarse sugar.
  15. Place pans on middle racks in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until puffy and brown and dough sounds hollow when tapped.
  16. Remove from oven and let cool.
