Anyone who's ever cooked a full course Thanksgiving dinner before knows that it can be a daunting task. There is help to alleviate the pressure of cooking a perfect meal.

In case of a holiday cooking emergency, there is a number to call if the turkey goes awry. In fact there are several hotlines, manned with cooking experts, available to help holiday chefs figure out what to do to salvage their Thanksgiving dinner. Here's who to call for questions and advice on cooking turkey, baking pie and other culinary related issues.

Turkey Hotlines

There are many professionals in the field of cooking turkey, that are available to answer questions about the challenges of preparing it. They will also help to solve issues such as what to do if the turkey catches on fire or answer questions about how to test the turkey for doneness.

  • Reynolds Turkey Line: To learn the correct way to defrost a turkey, and how to reheat leftovers, call the cooking professionals at Reynolds at 1-800-745-4000.
  • Foster Farms: For tips on preparing turkey, including roasting, grilling, smoking and rotisserie techniques call the experts at Foster Farms at 1-800-255-7227.
  • U.S. Department of Agriculture Meat and Poultry Hotline: For questions regarding the storage and preparation of foods, including how to properly stuff a turkey, call 1-888-674-6854.

Pie & Baking Hotlines

Turkey's not the only thing that holiday chefs may need help with. There are a number of baking hotlines to assist with questions regarding pies, rolls and other baked goods.

  • Land-o-Lakes Holiday Bake Line: For cooking and baking techniques, ingredient substitution, freezing guidelines and information on how to ship homemade treats call 1-800-782-9606.
  • Libby Consumer Hotline: For questions about using canned pumpkin or baking, call 1-800-854-0374. Live baking professionals are also available to chat live online on the Very Best Baking website.

These helpful hotlines can be a lifesaver when it comes to holiday cooking emergencies. They are also useful beforehand as a helpful resource for those planning to cook holiday meals.
