Heart Shaped Salisbury Steak, Chocolate Fudge Dessert Dip

Cooking Valentine's Day dinner at home can be sweet and from the heart. Following are heart-shaped recipes for simple dishes from the main course through desert.

Make him (or her) something that says "I Love You" without breaking your back or your bank.

For a main course, you can easily make Salisbury Steak or Meatloaf in the shape of a heart. Serve either over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes (which, of course can be heart shaped too). Accompany with heart-shaped biscuits and a salad, and for desert, serve a delicious heart-shaped chocolate fudge dip.

These recipes are so easy, anyone could can make them, and they’ll show you put your heart into your cooking efforts for your Valentine.

Heart-shaped Salisbury Steak Recipe

Ingredients

Mix beef with egg, and form into four heart shapes. Coat each side of patties well with flour. Cook patties in butter in a large skillet until brown. Turn once carefully during browning. Drain fat from pan. Add beef broth, onion, mushrooms and Worcestershire sauce to pan. Stir to blend, coating meat. Cover and simmer gently, about 25 minutes or until fork-tender. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes.

Click here for meatloaf recipe. Form meatloaf into one large or several small heart shape(s) and bake in large pan. (If cooking several small meatloaves, reduce cooking time by 15 minutes.)

Garlic Mashed Potato Recipe

Ingredients

Cover potatoes with water in a large heavy-bottomed pan. Cover pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook at a low boil until potatoes are fork-tender. Drain potatoes and set aside. Return empty pan to low heat and add butter, milk, broth and garlic, stirring constantly just until butter is melted. Mash the potatoes with the butter/broth mixture and add salt and pepper to taste. Potatoes can also be served heart-shaped, or with sailsbury hearts on top.

Sour Cream Cheddar Cheese Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients

Combine all ingredients. Form into a dozen small biscuits. Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) fro 12 minutes or until golden.

Heart-shaped Chocolate Fudge Dessert Dip Recipe

Ingredients

In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, and peanut butter until creamy. Stir in the confectioners' sugar, brown sugar, and chocolate chips. Shape into a heart, cover and chill for 2 hours, or until firm. Serve with apple slices, strawberries, and graham crackers or shortbread cookies.
