Canadian Thanksgiving

This year Canadian Thanksgiving coincides with Columbus Day on Oct. 6th. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving much the same way as Americans do just a bit earlier. Most of us have a Turkey with all the trimmings. Its earlier because being further north are harvest time is earlier.

Canadian Thanksgivingisn’t based on the pilgrim story but instead is actually older. Martin Frobisher had the first Thanksgiving on Baffin Island, 1578. His men ate salted beef and peas.
