My Rosh Hashanah
I spent first night Rosh Hashanah at my mother's. In the Sephardic tradition we made blessings on beats, dates, leaks, gourds, pomegranates as well as apples dipped in honey. For the gourd we had baked zucchini I love this tradition because it blesses all the earth's fall bounty. Dad made Challah which we dipped in honey. Main course was my mother's famous chicken soup with matzo balls, lots of chicken, curry and rice.
For my Rosh Hashanah meal we had pomegranate chicken, watch this space for a link to the recipe coming soon. I also had a salad with pomegranates, dates, raisins, cucumber, tomatoes, sliced apples with honey all set on red leaf lettuce.
L'shana Tova! It's now the Jewish New Year of 5767. With two sevens its a lucky number. May everyone have a wonderful year.
