Yes, it sure is nice to take a break from cooking and dine out -- especially during the summer, when it takes so long for my kitchen to cool down. Do you try to save restaurants for "special occasions," or for you, is it more of a casual, heck-it's-the-weekend kind of thing?

There's the little places we go for tea and coffee, lunch and dessert. Then there are the I just don't feel like cooking today, lower budget but still good and resonably healthy and then there are big special occasion restaurants the real treats! I do like eating out and yes, summer is a great time for it!

I want a break on the weekends so we go out for at least one or two meals. It's not the cooking that bothers me but the fact cooking requires cleaning up!

Yes, I hear you! I can certainly relate to that. If someone else would clean up I'd happily spend all day in the kitchen!

Afternoon, I frequent a couple of the local restaurants in northeastern WI. I find most of them know how to present plates but have one that has a couple of cooks, that haven't a clue on how to dress up a plate. Any clues on how I can nicely show them, or any websites that I can print plates to show them?

Thank you

That's a tough one. It means a lot of tact and advanced social skills, I'm not sure I'd be up to it! Be friendly. Be positive make suggestions. Tell them how it is in their best interests. Don't blame anyone.

I'm always reluctant to critisize because I always worry that they'll blame the staff and fire someone - when its almost always a question of bad management and training almost never the staff!

It takes so little to dress up the plate and it can make a huge difference.
