Hi, this is a bit embarrasing but actually before now I'd never heard of it!

But here's a web site that may help.
http://www.thewellscompany.com/campfire_...

Can you contact the manufacturer? Or who sold it to you?

My husband travels to Texas every year for a guys week with his Father and brothers. He told me about the plow disk cooking and I would like to buy one for him as a Christmas gift... Does anyone know where I can buy one on-line?
Thanks...

I sell cooking disks (discadas) which are steel plow disks before the holes are drilled. You need to wash them first, then heat them on an outdoor burner (like a turkey fryer) or on a grill or on a campfire over rocks...after the disk is hot, add about 1 cup of cooking oil to the center and wait until it heats up. Then using a long handled spoon baste the disk surface with the oil every 15 minutes for about 1 hour. Then remove the oil with the spoon and use a wadded up paper towel to rub the remaining oil onto the disk. After doing this for about 10', the disk is seasoned and ready to cook. Dont wash it after you cook! If you do, you will have to season it again...just wipe it clean with a paper towel and have it ready for the next meal. If you want to know more or want to purchase a disk, look on my ebay site under "cooking disks". That is all I sell as a hobby from Austin Texas. Have a great day

You are in luck. I sell cooking disks on ebay. Search under cooking disks. They are plow disks that have not yet been drilled for the plow. They are called discada discos...popular in northern mexico. I can also be contacted at saldifam@aol.com directly to sell you one if you don't want to go on ebay. But you can look at my ebay site and it has pictures, etc. on it. Thanks. Duke

I season all the cast iron for the family and for the Scouts. I don't use oil, because it's drippy and sticky. A solid fat like Crisco (or lard) works much better. Use the same technique above but melt solid fat rather than using the bottled oil. You'll have a cleaner finish, and bugs won't stick to your disk.
